Catching Up - OH and TN

Hello My Loves,

I have some catching up to do! I won't bore you with the academic bullshit of my life. I'm still in graduate school, and that's all you need to worry about. May was filled with wondrous, raucousy, good times.

The first week of May, on the 5th, 6th, and 10th I was in the Knoxville, TN area for several performances of "Cinderella! Cinderella!."  I of course was the most beautiful, oldest, meanest stepsister, so as my actual sister commented, I played myself. This production is conducted in American Sign Language and the use of voices.  I absolutely love ASL and Deaf culture, two things that were big parts of another life of mine.  May 7th to 11th, Timmie came to visit me from California!  We got to watch mud-wrestling at Jorge's, chill with the Jefferson House, go to Nashville for a "Cinderella! Cinderella!" performance, and go to Dollywood!

Timmie and I cruisin' in an old Caddy at Dollywood!

At the Airport... before the sun is up.

Around May 12th, I headed to NW Ohio for my 'baby' (there's a lot of sisters) sister's wedding!!!  (See pictures below!)  I made: the cake, the bouquets, and my sister cry.  (Remember what I told you about the type casting for the stepsister role- it's true!)  I failed at keeping the cake from melting.  Three words: Fuck Royal Icing.  I should have stuck with the frosting recipes I knew.  The cake was tasty though, and the happy couple liked it which is all that matters.  There were three flavors: devil's food chocolate, apple, and honey.  The colors were pool blue and pink, and yes, that is Marge and Homer on top of the cake.  The wedding was a blast, and my sister handled all sorts of Wedding Day Disaster and planning amazingly well.

The Cake

The Bride's Bouquet

  They're hitched!

They got married on the 16th.  The 17th I drove to TN for more performances of "Cinderella! Cinderella!". On the 20th, I headed back to OH, because that weekend, my sister, brother-in-law, and I were taking our uncle and grandma to see Cirque Du Soleil - Allegria (which I actually saw many moons ago in Toronto, Ontario) in Toledo.  That kicked ass, and we almost learned the hard way that there is no re-entry into Huntington Center.  My sister got great seats for the show, and when our uncle bailed on us, we took our baby brother instead.  This was followed by some good eats at Big Boy, which I have not been to in decades (literally).

Finally, on the 24th, I drove to KY for another performance of "Cinderella! Cinderella!," and I returned to Knoxville with the cast and crew afterward.  I should also mention that the show times are interspersed with a lot of drinking and dancing at Sassy Ann's.

Lil' bit drunk.

May 27th, I head back to OH to visit the family until June 7th.  While there, I:
  • took my oldest niece on a driving and parking lesson
  • changed my youngest niece's diaper (it's been awhile since I've gotten diaper duty!)
  • attacked my grandma's house for Spring cleaning with a vengeance
  • visited with my brother who just got a promotion
  • went to see Bodies Revealed (which is not as good as the original Bodyworlds)
  • helped a niece with her math homework (let's find an equation for a line perpendicular to x,y!)
  • got to take several carloads of donations and trash out of grandma's house
 Now.... to Chicago!
