Well things never go as planned... sometimes in a good way.
I started the day on a mission to see the Geography Museum at the University of Winnipeg. After looking around the university, up and down Portage Avenue, I finally asked at the Information/Security desk, only to be told that it doesn't exist!! That gave me time before my lunch meeting with my TRCC contact to peruse various stores along the street. Where I first discovered (and I think I've seen it before, but still):
If my family has their own chocolate company and someone is holding out on me, then heads will roll!
Also, most of us are familiar with Vegenaise (a Vegan's mayonaise replacement).
Well I found Vegenaise's archenemy!:
What you can't see in the photo is the caption/tagline "Everything should taste like bacon." Priceless.
After this I ate at George's Burgers & Subs, which was tasty and affordable! After drying off somewhat... oh yes, did I mention my search for the non-existent Geography Museum occurred during a cloud burst? At least it was warm (15C / 60F)!
After this I took an afternoon nap and headed to a book launch for Midnight Sweat Lodge, a fictional piece by Waubgeshig Rice. The author read from the novel, and two other local writers read some of their pieces as well: Rosanna Deerchild and Duncan Mercredi. I really enjoyed it!
It was a long but good day!
