Minnesota!

I arrived in Minnesota Thursday evening, after a long, beautiful drive through Wisconsin.  Rolling hills and valleys of every shade of green form the scenery of western WI and eastern MN.

Traffic was not bad at all and gas seemed a reasonable price.  Chicago proper: $4.45... just outside Chicago $4.23... a lot of western WI $3.89... Minneapolis $3.79. Yayay!

After deliciousness from grilling out (it was all Chester), April, Chester, David, and I went to Joe's Garage for a Couchsurfing event.  The night was full of interesting happenings:
  • April learned the fine nuances between trash digging and dumpster diving
  • Chester met his first Freegan
  • I had not one, not two, but three beers spilled on me by a very apologetic Californian
  • I met a woman who was studying to be an ASL interpreter!
We had a great time, chatted at the house, and went to bed.

The next morning, this morning, the bad news is that they canceled my volunteering for the Truth Commission- the goal of my mini trip!  I'm trying to finagle some meetings with members of the staff... hopefully that goes through all right.
